The wreck sits on the southwest shore of Lokrum Island, whose bulk lies to the north and northeast and shelters the site from the Bura (NE) and from northerly weather, while the mainland and Dubrovnik screen the NW-N sector. The exposed window is the open Adriatic to the south and southwest, with the S-SSW-SW arc fully open and most surface chop generated by southerly wind or the Jugo (Scirocco) blowing up the channel from the SE. Lokrum's own southeast tip and the trending mainland coast give partial shelter from due SE, so the biggest swell reaches the site on a S-to-SW fetch. Being a deep wreck it is largely unaffected by everyday chop, but a sustained Jugo or a southerly blow builds surface waves and surge that can make boat work and the descent uncomfortable or force the dive to be moved.
