The wall faces roughly ESE onto the open Adriatic, so its swell window runs from the E through ESE to SE, squarely into the fetch of the Jugo (Sirocco) that drives the largest waves and surge here. Exposure tapers steadily round to the S and is roughly halved by the SW, where only cross-basin swell reaches the face. Lokrum's own body and the Dubrovnik mainland behind it shadow the entire W, NW and N arc, so the cold offshore Bura (Bora) blows over the dive from behind with almost no wave fetch on the seaward side. Calm-water windows are best on settled summer days before the NW Maestral sea-breeze freshens in the afternoon.
