The wreck lies on the seaward southwest face of the Grebeni islets, open to the S-SW-W across the channel toward the open southern Adriatic, where the longest Jugo (Sirocco) waves running up the SE-NW axis wrap around the islets to reach it. The Grebeni rocks and the Lapad peninsula shadow the landward N-NE-E sectors, so the cold offshore Bura (Bora) blowing off the mainland mountains brings strong wind but little wave fetch on this side. Diving is called off in sustained Jugo, when surge and reduced visibility make the deep slope unworkable.
