About This Site
Stračinska, dived as the 'Sipuja' wall, is one of the most popular wall dives off the island of Šolta in the secluded south-coast bay of the same name, roughly two nautical miles from the Split Gate. The wall begins around 25 m (82 ft) and drops to a base near 45 m (148 ft), its face riddled with holes, crevices and small canyons and decorated with gorgonian sea fans. Its depth and structure make it a favourite for advanced divers and underwater photographers, rounding out the area's coverage of the Šolta south coast.

The Sipuja wall sits on the open, seaward south face of Stračinska bay on Šolta's south coast, so it takes the full brunt of Jugo (Sirocco) swell driven up the Adriatic's SE-NW axis — SE through S is the dominant exposure direction. The enclosing headlands and the island mass behind block the landward N-NE-E sectors almost completely, and Bura (Bora) blowing offshore from the mainland NE has little fetch here. Westerly and SW storm swell can still wrap into the bay mouth, so this is not a safe-shelter site in southerly or western weather.
