The cavern opens roughly eastward from Balun bay on the seaward face of Biševo, an outer island in the open Adriatic, so it is most exposed to the E, ESE and SE quadrant. The Jugo (Sirocco) blowing up from the SE along the Adriatic axis is the dominant swell-maker here and is the wind that most often closes the site, with the white-bottomed chamber amplifying any incoming surge through its low entrance. The bulk of Biševo shadows the W and NW sectors, while neighbouring Vis to the NE partly limits Bura (Bora) fetch from the NE/ENE, though gusty offshore Bura still chops the channel.
