Sitting in open water off the south-east end of Vis, this site faces the open Adriatic across its southern and south-eastern sectors and takes the full force of a Jugo (Sirocco), the SE wind that builds the longest, largest waves along the sea's SE-NW axis. The bulk of Vis island shadows the landward N, NW and W sectors, so a Bura (Bora) blowing offshore from the NE produces fierce gusts but little wave on this seaward face. Because the wreck is deep (41-55 m), surface chop matters mainly for the boat ride and the descent line; once on the airframe conditions are usually calm, but dives are called off when a Jugo is running.
