Secche di Tor Paterno - Il Cappello

Fully submerged offshore shoal roughly 5 nautical miles out in the Tyrrhenian, SW of the Ostia-Torvaianica beach, with no land barrier across the open seaward arc. The plateau is most exposed to the SW Libeccio (its longest open fetch across the basin), with the S/SSE Scirocco and the open W and NW (Maestrale) sectors all running freely onto it. Only the landward N through ESE arc, toward the Lazio coast from Ostia round to Torvaianica, is short-fetched and attenuated. Because Boa 1 is the shallowest summit (-19 m), surface chop from the exposed quarters builds quickly and makes boat handling and entry the limiting factor rather than depth.
