An open offshore wreck on mud off the northern Lazio coast, with the Italian mainland to the E-NE blocking those sectors and the full Tyrrhenian fetch open to the south and west. The dominant wave exposure is the Libeccio (SW) and the long-fetch Scirocco (S-SE), with the Mistral/Tramontana (NW) also reaching the site across the Tyrrhenian; being microtidal, conditions are wind-wave rather than swell driven. The seabed is fine, easily-stirred silt and the wreck itself is dark, so visibility is torch-dependent and drops quickly if the mud is disturbed. Boats only run when the SW-to-S sectors are calm, so despite its depth the Liburna is a fair-weather dive.
