Scuba diving at Paradise Reef in Mykonos

Paradise Reef

About This Site
Paradise Reef is the most popular shallow reef and training dive on Mykonos, lying just off the famous Paradise Beach on the well-sheltered south coast. A gentle, current-light rock-and-sand reef sloping through roughly 12-18 m, it is the standard site for Discover Scuba, Open Water certification and first dives, yet still delivers classic Aegean reef life. Its position directly in front of the cluster of south-coast dive operators makes it one of the most accessible and frequently dived sites on the island.

Warnings for today

  • Strong winds expected

Set in a south-facing bay on Mykonos's sheltered south coast, the reef is fully shadowed from the dominant summer Meltemi (N to NW) by the island's hills, giving the calm, current-light conditions that make it the island's standard training site. The open-water exposure is to the south (S/SSW/SSE) across the Aegean, so the only real swell arrives on rare Scirocco (S-SE) blows; the flanking headlands of the bay damp the E and W sectors. Summer surface conditions are typically flat.
