The caverns line the base of steep cliffs on the eastern, open-Aegean flank of the uninhabited Tragonisi islet, so the exposure window runs NE through SE into open water, while the bulk of the islet and Mykonos beyond it shield the entire western half (WNW through SW). The dominant summer threat is the Aegean Meltemi (N-NW), which wraps around the northern tip and drives short, steep wind-waves onto this windward side, with cavern surge amplifying inside the chambers on windy days. Dives are typically scheduled on calm mornings before the Meltemi strengthens, and the deep Seal Cave is run only in settled conditions.
