Marathonisi (Turtle Island)

Tucked into the inner south-west corner of Laganas Bay, the wall faces east-south-east into the bay and is shielded to the north and north-west by the bulk of Zakynthos from the prevailing summer Maestro/Meltemi winds, and to the west and south-west by the Keri peninsula and the islet itself. The only meaningful wind-wave exposure is the south to south-east sector when the warm Scirocco blows fetch up the Ionian into the bay mouth, but the inner-bay position keeps even that modest, which is why the site dives reliably in almost all conditions.
