The wall sits off the western tip of Nikouria and faces the open Naxos-Amorgos channel, so the WSW, W, WNW and NW sectors take full wind-wave fetch, with the exposed window running round to NNW. The bulk of Nikouria island and the neighbouring NW coast of Amorgos shield the eastern half (NE through SE), while the Amorgos main-island spine running away to the southwest partly shelters the S and SW flank. The summer Meltemi (N-NW) wraps around the western point and drives the strongest chop on the NW-N side; there is no real swell in this microtidal Aegean setting, and dives are simply called off on strong Meltemi days.
