Ambelaki is a deeply embayed cove on Corfu's northwest coast at the southwest edge of the Paleokastritsa bay complex, sheltered by headlands across its entire landward arc (N through E to S), which keeps the dominant summer NW Mistral/Maestro largely shadowed. The cove mouth opens to the west-southwest into the open Ionian, so the only meaningful exposure is from W-SW-WSW wind-waves and the occasional Libeccio (SW) or wrapping Scirocco (SSW) swell. As a Mediterranean site it is microtidal with low groundswell, and the embayed geometry makes it calm enough to serve as the standard sheltered check-out and house-reef location.
