The site sits at the head of a narrow east-facing inlet on the far-eastern coast of Milos, its mouth opening ESE to the open Aegean, so the E-ESE-SE sectors are fully exposed to wind-wave and the long-fetch Scirocco. The bulk of Milos shelters the W, NW and SW sectors almost completely, while the neighbouring islands of Kimolos (to the N-NNE) and Polyaigos (to the NE) knock down the summer Meltemi, leaving only a moderate NE-ENE window where swell wraps past their western ends. Calmest in settled or N-NW-wind conditions; an E or SE blow quickly makes the open, "immediately deep" entry rough.
