Sheltered south-opening cove in the lee of Pescadero Point — the calmest site in the Carmel area. South-southwest is the one real window, threading past Point Lobos at moderate exposure; due-south and southwest energy are heavily moderated by the Point Lobos landmass and Pescadero Rocks. West through northwest are well protected, with north seeing minimal exposure. Surgy only when a solid long-period southern-hemisphere swell runs. Dense kelp bed demands streamlined gear.
