Carmel River Beach

West-facing beach at the southeast corner of Carmel Bay. West hits at near-full strength, with west-northwest following at high exposure and west-southwest close behind; northwest wraps past Cypress Point at moderate-to-high strength, making this a notoriously hazardous beach in winter swell. Southwest is moderated by Point Lobos, and north through southeast are protected. River mouth outflow can drop visibility to zero after rains.
