The wall sits on Capri's exposed north-eastern point (Capo Tiberio) below Villa Jovis, facing open water toward the Gulf of Naples, so it takes the brunt of the northerly Tramontana and any wind-waves built over the NE-to-E fetch. South-east Scirocco arrives obliquely and loses energy on this corner, while the bulk of the island fully shadows the southern and western sectors (Libeccio). As a microtidal Mediterranean site there is no tidal range, but a moderate current can run along the wall when the wind is up, so calm settled days are best.
