Prominent headland exposed to south through southwest energy, hitting at full to near-full strength, while south-southeast is moderated by the combined Catalina and San Clemente Island shadows. West-southwest carries moderate-to-high exposure onto the Westward Beach entry, and west swell arrives at moderate-high strength through the corridor south of the Channel Islands, feeding the notoriously sharp shorebreak; only west-northwest through northeast is well protected. Canyons can focus swell, making it dynamic; currents accelerate around the point, so stay within the kelp beds.
