Set on the open-sea southwest cliff face of Dugi Otok, the wall faces wide open across the SW-to-W quadrant and takes the full long-fetch open-Adriatic swell from the SSW, SW and W, which can build significant surge along the drop-off and inside the cavern. The southerly reach of the Jugo (Sirocco) still delivers a strong southern sea (S), but the island increasingly shades the wall as the swell backs toward the SE. The bulk of Dugi Otok blocks the NE-quadrant Bura, so the cold offshore Bora produces strong surface wind but little wave action here. The bay itself is one of the safest anchorages on the island in settled weather, but the seaward wall should only be dived in calm conditions or a light Maestral.
