The wall sits on the southeastern flank of the Aspronisi islet at the southwestern corner of the Santorini caldera, with the islet body shadowing the landward NW-N sectors and the bulk of Thera and Cape Akrotiri blocking the SE-E. There is no real ocean swell in the Aegean, so exposure is wind-wave driven: the primary open window is W-SW, where the wide western caldera opening between Therasia and the Akrotiri headland faces the open Aegean, so westerly and southwesterly winds drive clean fetch straight onto the wall. The summer Meltemi (N-NW) is largely blocked by the islet and the caldera rim, so dives are best run on calm or northerly days when Aspronisi provides a lee.
