Sitting on the seaward tip of the Lagos headland on the Algarve south coast, the site is shadowed from the dominant NW Atlantic groundswell by the Portuguese landmass, leaving the northern and western sectors blocked. Its main exposure is to southerly swell and to wind-waves from the SE through SW; summer afternoon sea breezes and any S-SE Atlantic low will build surge that the caves and overhangs amplify, so divers time the dive to settled, low-swell windows.
