Pointe Cacau is the southward-projecting headland between the calanques of Port-Miou and Port-Pin, so the high limestone massif to the north blocks the Mistral (NW) and the coastline curve shelters the easterly winds, which is why the site can be dived in conditions that close out much of the coast. Its main exposure is the open southern sector, where the Sirocco (S-SE, longest fetch in the western Med) and the Libeccio (SW) build the wind-wave that wraps the point. The western flank is partly shadowed by the Calanques coast running toward Marseille, so W/WSW swell arrives reduced.
