South-southwest facing cove in the lee of the Fort Ross headland, whose shallow reef ridge acts as a natural breakwater against west and northwest swell. South through southwest swell enters the open window most directly at moderate-high exposure, and long-period southern swell pushes surge into the cove. West and west-southwest energy is attenuated by the point and outer reef, with northwest well blocked. Less protected from southerlies than Gerstle Cove; best on northwest-dominant days.
