The dive runs along the SW-facing limestone cliffs at the tip of the Capo Caccia promontory, so the towering headland and the ridge running north to Punta Cristallo block the N, NE and E sectors completely. Exposure is to the open Mediterranean across the S, SW and W arc, where Libeccio and the NW Mistral/Tramontana wind-waves wrap the cape and southerly Scirocco swell builds the longest fetch. With no real ocean groundswell in this microtidal basin, conditions are calm in summer but the site is quickly blown out and the boat trip cancelled when strong W-to-NW or S winds run.
