Southwest-facing open beach directly exposed to south and south-southwest swells, with southwest and west-southwest striking at full strength — the island shadows are already in the offshore swell itself. West and west-northwest arrive at high energy, while true northwest through north see strong protection. The best diving is at Hatchet Reef and the outer ridges well beyond the wide surf zone, so the dive zone feels closer to open-water conditions than the factors at the beach suggest — best on small south swells at high tide.
