Mahukona Beach Park is an abandoned sugar-plantation harbor on the North Kohala coast — despite the name there is no beach. A ladder entry from the old landing drops you into clear, calm water over scattered industrial relics: train wheels, chain, cable runs and boiler parts from the plantation era, with dense reef fish life around them. One of the Big Island's easiest and most charming shore dives when the water is flat.
